For almost 40 years Cliff has worked in the wine industry. It is a passion that is hard to lose and as one of Cliff’s friend’s said ‘It’s better than selling soap powder’. Cliff’s last role was as the Marketing Director of a wine company and as such he had contact with over 80 producers, many became and more importantly, remain friends.

Spears Cross is once again licensed and Cliff has started to supply a number of restaurants and local wine buffs with wine.

Guests can also enjoy the wines, you have 850 to choose from and all are available at trade prices. Cliff has taken a unique approach; guests can have a Trade Price List and order from it. So you arrive and the wine is waiting for you. We also stock wines from Dunkery Vineyard, situated in Wootton Courtney this is Somerset’s largest vineyard and covers some 7 acres.

Spears Cross has a small wine list and guests can buy a bottle to enjoy. Again, the unique approach, the prices are at trade prices plus a small corkage fee, no huge hotel mark-ups, but a sensible price for guests to sit and enjoy a bottle……and if you like the wine you know how much it’ll cost to take some home with you.

Wine of the Month features and the selected wines are because of the season or because the winemaker is visiting. A light German Riesling on a hot summer’s evening is delightful, a Rhône red on a winter’s day is warming or simply indulge in a glass of Premier Cru Champagne.
